Idaho Distance Education Academy (I-DEA) has been a free, statewide charter school since 2004. I-DEA is chartered through the Whitepine Joint School District #288 in Deary, Idaho. I-DEA enrollment typically averages 700 students statewide in grades K-12.
I-DEA is accredited through AdvancED. (AdvancED is recognized by the state, nation and internationally as an accreditation program for schools.)
Students are ‘in school’ approximately spending one hour per class, per day. Juniors and seniors have the opportunity to take dual credit courses at different post secondary schools in Idaho. 80% of graduates complete at least one college course before graduation; with 20% earning their Associate of Science degree or professional certification upon high school graduation.

Grade Point Average (GPA) and Graduation
GPA is computed using the above quality points. Beginning with grade nine, all subjects, whether passed or failed, are included in the computation. A minimum of 46 credits is required for graduation. There is no weighting of courses. Dual Credit courses are given half credit for high school credit. Grades are recorded on the transcript and GPA is computed in January and May.
