Idaho Distance Education Academy (I-DEA) is an accredited, high-achieving, online public charter school with a track record of excellence. Since 2004, we have been serving Idaho families who desire to school from home. Check out some of the benefits available through I-DEA which set us apart from traditional educators:
Advanced Courses Available at all Levels (K-12)
From taking robotics, website development and computer coding in elementary grades to getting a Cisco certification in high school, I-DEA offers a multitude of advanced curriculum that is sure to excite and challenge your child. Students have the ability to advance in curriculum at their own pace and are encouraged to take full advantage of these great opportunities.
Free College Credit while in High School
I-DEA offers a unique opportunity for students to take college courses tuition-free while in high school. Eighty percent of I-DEA students complete at least one college course before graduation, with 20% of those completing their 2-year college degree.
Professional Support for Students and Families
Education through I-DEA is a partnership. Parents play a critical role in the education of their students, and provide daily instructional support. Each student is partnered with a high-quality certified teacher who works with the parents to assist with the academic process from course selection, to assessments and academic support, and much more. I-DEA also provides families excellent technology support to ensure students have everything they need for success.
I-DEA understands that when families choose to school from home, they often desire flexibility in their daily schedules, especially for the upper grades when students want to take advantage of dual credit opportunities. To facilitate these possibilities, I-DEA works with students to set schedule to fit their academic and career pursuits and to help them accomplish their goals.
As a public charter school, there is no tuition charge for enrollment. Students are provided all necessary resources for their education program (e.g. curriculum, dual credit courses, technology needs, etc.)
Three Regional Support Centers
We have three centers across the state to support families: Boise, Post Falls, and Pocatello. At the centers, students can join other I-DEA students for virtual field trips, workshops, clubs, activities, etc.
